  • CHS to Host and Compete in METG Drama Festival on Saturday March 4

On Saturday March 4, the Chelmsford High School Theater Guild will host the preliminary round of the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG) Drama Festival for the sixth consecutive year, under the direction of Lauren Cochran and Craig Roberston. This is the 86th year that the METG is producing its annual Drama Festival.
At this event, Chelmsford High School will be one of eight schools performing one-act plays to be judged by a panel of adjudicators. The preliminary round kicks off with 112 schools performing in several locations throughout the state, each of which presents a 40-minute play. Three schools from each site are chosen to advance to the semi-final round, to be held on March 18.  Finally, selected schools will progress to the State Finals, which will be held at the John Hancock Hall in Boston the weekend of March 30-April 1.
This year, the CHS entry to the Festival is entitled Family Album.  Family Album is an original story about a family’s antics at their summer cottage in Bristol, New Hampshire. The play was conceived and written by Eloise Hoffman and students at CHS. Cast and crew members of Family Album include Jenny Mitchell, Nadya Lisciotto, Sophie Lee, Hannah Kunze, Philip Ferdinand, Julia Ruff, Mia Kelly, Meghan Majeski, Andrew Bain, and Alex Stanichuk.
Schools competing on March 4 in Chelmsford include Georgetown High School, Lynn Classical High School, Lynnfield High School, St Mary’s High School, Tewksbury Memorial High School, Tyngsborough High School, and Wilmington High School.  All shows will be presented in the CHS Performing Arts Center beginning at 9 am.  Tickets are $10 for the entire day, and can be purchased at the door.  This is quite a deal for a full day of great student theater!
